on Wednesday 22nd April 2015, we celebrated earth day by targeting the uk’s biggest power station at its company agm. highlights of the day included: a lively protest held together with the london mining network outside the agm, disruption inside the agm, a stunt at the DECC offices and an open letter delivered to decc, from groups based in north america, south america and europe.
Drax is the largest coal-fired power station and single biggest carbon emitter in the UK, and is now also the biggest biomass power station in the world. In return for trashing forests and digging up communities, Drax is receiving massive subsidies when it should have been closed down years ago. This year’s protest will coincide with Drax Plc’s AGM: Join us in exposing and opposing burning biomass and coal. For forests, communities and the climate, it’s time to #axedrax!
