Biofuelwatch Privacy Statement and General Data Protection Regulation

Biofuelwatch takes the privacy of its supporters very seriously. We have never and don’t intend to pass personal data on to third parties and seek to maintain it as securely as possible.

What information do we collect about you?

We collect basic contact information when you sign up to our mailing list directly via our website, or when you complete an e-alert through our platform on Action Network and opt in to subscribe to our mailing list.

Biofuelwatch is hosted by Tipping Point UK. Tipping Point UK provides tools to support grassroots groups organising for climate justice and handles your data securely in line with its privacy policy.

We only contact you at key moments relevant to our campaigns and the wider movement. You can unsubscribe from our communications at any time.

How will we use the information about you?

We use the information you provide to send you communications such as newsletters and e-alerts about our campaigns and activities. When signing up via Action Network, you are able to choose whether or not to opt in to receive these communications and can manage your preferences at any time.

If you complete an e-alert or sign a petition through Action Network, we will use your details for the purpose of that action and to communicate with you in line with the preferences you selected at the point of sign-up.

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with any third parties outside Biofuelwatch.

You can unsubscribe from our communications at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email we send, or by updating your preferences directly through Action Network.

Access to your information and correction

You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you.

Much of the information you have shared with us can be viewed, updated or corrected directly via Action Network, using the links provided in our emails.

If you would like to request a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete your data, you can also contact us by emailing biofuelwatch@gmail.com.

We aim to ensure that all personal information we hold is accurate and up to date.

You have the right to request that your personal data is deleted or that we stop processing it.

You can unsubscribe from our communications at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email sent via Action Network. This will stop further emails from us.

If you would like to request the deletion of your personal data held by Biofuelwatch, please email biofuelwatch@gmail.com with your request. We will process such requests in line with data protection legislation.

Individuals’ rights

Biofuelwatch respects your rights to access and control your personal data.

You can unsubscribe from our mailing list at any time using the unsubscribe link included in every email sent via Action Network.

You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, as well as the right to request correction or deletion of that data. To make such a request, please email biofuelwatch@gmail.com.

We will respond to data access and deletion requests within the timescales required by data protection legislation. We may charge a reasonable administrative fee only where a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, in line with GDPR.

Lawful basis for processing personal data

We collect only personal information given freely by individuals about themselves in order to send them a maximum of 4 mailings per month including occasional newsletters and e-alerts.

Consent

We collect and process personal data on the basis of your explicit consent.

When you sign up to our mailing list or take action via an e-alert using Action Network, you are asked to actively opt in to receive communications from us. You can choose whether or not to receive emails at the point of sign-up and can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing or updating your preferences via the links provided in our emails.

Data Protection Officers

We are not required to designate a Data Protection Officer but, following best practice, have appointed a member of staff to oversee continued compliance with Data Protection regulations.
