The EP holding (EPH) is one of Europe’s largest investors in climate-damaging energy, primarily in fossil fuels, but also in wood-fired power plants in Germany, the UK, the Czech Republic, France and Italy. In addition, EPH’s German subsidiary LEAG has already purchased ten pellet plants in Germany and Sweden, making them one of the largest pellet producers in Europe, with a capacity of over one million pellets per year.
EPH’s investments in wood energy are harming forests in the USA and Canada (from which the British EPH power plant in Lynemouth imports pellets), France, Italy, Germany and the Czech Republic. In addition, the EPH biomass plant in France imports woodchips from Brazilian eucalyptus plantations, which are described as “green deserts” by social movements there.
